It's been a month since the excitement of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Lot and lots of films premiered. Did you see any? It will be interesting to see how well they will be received when they are released in the mainstream theatres.
Though you know how much I love movies, I have never attended the TIFF. I would rather avoid the crowds and wait to see the movies afterwards.
One of the movies that premiered at the TIFF that caught my eye is Battle in Seattle. And it is opening in Canada in a couple weeks on Friday, October 17, in Montreal , Toronto and Vancouver.
Check out the cast!
Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, Ray Liotta, Michelle Rodriguez and Andre Benjamin!
And what a story!
Based on one of the most incendiary political uprisings in a generation, Battle in Seattle takes an in-depth look at the five days that rocked the world in 1999 as tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in protest on the World Trade Organization. What began as a peaceful protest intended to stop the WTO talks quickly escalated into a full-scale riot and eventual State of Emergency that squared off the protesters against the Seattle Police Department and the National Guard.
Sounds good, doesn't it?
All those people coming together hoping yet knowing they could make a difference! Such passion! Such dedication!
I often lament that I'm not passionate about anything and that I wish I had a "cause" to get involved with. Perhaps seeing Battle in Seattle will be spur me into action and finding that cause!
